Abstract
The objective of this research is to assess the effect of Good Practices for Adaptation to Climate Change (GPACC) on the technical efficiency of farmers who are members of functional farmers‟ organizations in the provinces of Passore and Zondoma in Burkina Faso. It uses data from three agricultural seasons (2016-2018) collected from a sample of 1556 farmers, including 1221 women and 335 men. An econometric model of the output-oriented distance function was used as an analysis tool. The results show that women and men are technically ineffective regardless of the GPACC modality adopted. However, the adoption of three and four GPACC improves women's technical efficiency with efficiency scores of 59% and 60% respectively against 49% for non-adopters. Among men, adopting one and two GPACCs increase their technical efficiency with scores of 74% and 71% respectively versus 62% for non-adopters. In addition to GPACC, socio-economic and institutional factors determine the technical effectiveness of men and women. In the light of the results of this study, a good promotion of GPACC is necessary to improve the productive potential of farms.
