Importance of Mycorrhization under Heat Stress Conditions: Technological Tools to Stimulate Mycorrhizal Colonization
Abstract
Agriculture is considered to be one of the most vulnerable sectors to climate-change. Crop production, particularly in tropical regions is facing increasing stresses due to natural and anthropogenic factors. Increased incidence of abiotic and biotic stresses has become a major cause for stagnation of productivity in main crops. There is evidence of yield declines in crops in many parts of the world due to increasing water stress, reduction in number of rainy days and increased air temperature. The symbiosis between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plants has been studied for many decades. This symbiosis is recognized as the interaction with the greatest economic impact on agriculture due to the reduction of environmental stresses. The effects of mycorrhization on plants grown under heat stress conditions and the effect of Penergetic technology in increase of the mycorrhization percentage was evaluated in this study. It was observed that plants in symbiosis with mycorrhizae showed greater tolerance to heat stress and that the use of Penergetic in the crops enabled a significant increase in the mycorrhization percentage and it promove to be efficient to improve the conditions of maintenance and productivity of plants under stress conditions.
